Just a short distance off shore flows the Gulf Stream which helps moderate temperatures all year long in addition to placing us in a temperate growing zone like Northern Florida in comparison to other areas further inland of North Carolina.

It allows us to use plants that are winter hardy many miles south of us, several species of palm trees, oleanders, and many other plants which can only be used as house plants 50 miles inland.

Many people vacationing in our area (A.K.A. "The Crystal Coast") fall in love with plants they encounter in area landscapes and we try to give honest assessments on how these plants might fare in their area.
